Three
transmitters. Just three. That’s all that was needed. The basic idea
was to give a really oblique Baldy Bounce by having a main T that had a 140 degree bounce angle and was shielded on
the direct path to the start. The main path from Baldy to the T was
northwest and the direct path, SW was shielded by the Phillips Ranch
hills I found a short semi-paved road (Oakdale) with a passable berm (I
drove the Saturn over it) that went out into the Lytle Creek wash just
south of Muscoy in Rialto. If you didn’t want to bounce over the berm
you could walk in for the 0.3 mile. I was parked there with the 10
element beam pointed at Baldy vertical pol at 10 ft elevation. T1 was
running 3 watts and iding as T-7. In air miles it was 29.48 miles from
the start and the shortest drive was 33.9 miles 1 hour 37 min and the
fastest was 37.4 miles and 57 minutes.
T2 was a
squawkbox hanging on a telephone pole on
T3 was hung on a
chain link fence alongside a RR track about a mile from T2 at the
southern end of
