The main T was hidden on the northern boundary line, right below Mt. Baldy, above Upland, just south of the Angeles National Forest. It had audio from Conan the Barbarian. Access to this T was quite tricky, especially since the roads to it were not on any maps, and there was several hundred feet of dirt road that was a little difficult to find. (several access points had road closed signs as well). This T was running 5 watts into a horizontal yagi, pointed towards Pasadena. I was hoping to get lots of reflections from the mountains, so it would look like a Baldy bounce. From what I hear, the hunters needed attenuation at the start point to get a bearing, this signal was so strong. Those who made it to the T found that the view of city lights and stars was spectacular.
T2 was hidden in Chino Hills, above hwy 142, on a hill with line of sight to the T1 location, but pretty well shielded from the start point. It was running 340mw into a horizontal yagi pointed at Mt. Baldy. This T had Beavis and Butthead audio. I was hoping to have hunters not hear this one at the start, but to hear it while on the way to T1, and have to make a decision about going back for it. This T could be heard easily with a rubber duck from T1.
I hope this proved to be a challenging, but fun hunt. Thanks to KF6UZT and Leigh for helping out
Congratulations to Mike, K6SNE, clearly the WINNER!
