The T went on the air at 19:30. Output power
was initially set to 1 Watt feeding a vertically
polarized 7-Element Yagi aimed approximately 335 Degrees
True. Complaints were received from the start point that
the signal was very weak but generally North-Northeast.
In response, transmitter power was increased to 10 Watts
to aid initial bearings. Due to a controller
malfunction, the carrier was on continuously making
bearings easier to obtain. Both hunters then obtained
bearings sufficient to begin the hunt.
At approximately 20:25, after educating the
indigenous population and the local PD about T-Hunting
and the consequences of winning a Saturday night hunt,
the original transmitter was found to be overheating
with output power dropping. Power was reduced to 1 Watt
shortly after which the transmitter ceased transmitting.
The transmitter was then replaced with the Comm's
transmitter and RF output power increased to 15 Watts. A
different controller was also used providing
intermittent transmissions as originally intended.
The transmitter was located on the East side
of Hunters Trail midway between Beaverbrook Lane and
High Country Drive in the City of Glendora. The Lat/Lon
were 34 Degrees, 7' 25.26" N, 117 Degrees 50' 24.24" W.
This location is approximately 11 miles NNE (Just a few
degrees East of due North) of the start point.
KN6AXD was seen 150 feet North of the T on Hunters trail but turned East into a network of roads with no outlet. A short 5 minutes later WA6CYY arrived at the hidden T having traveled as far East as IS 15. KN6AXD arrived four minutes later.
Results: Team Time In Mileage KN6AXD/Lana/Lexi 21:58 21.8 WA6CYY 21:54 80.3 KN6AXD, Lana, and Lexi are the winners.
