Four hunters,
two transmitters, several trains and Mt Baldy all met for an
interesting evening. The two transmitters were tucked in behind Mt
Jurupa in what many would call Riverside, but was actually Colton for
one and Grand Terrace for the other. They were 0.2 miles apart but you
couldn't get from one to the other in less than about 2.5
miles as they were on opposite sides of the Santa Ana river. T1
ran 20 watts horizontal polarized into a 13 element beam pointed at Mt.
Baldy that was across an elevated train track that had a lot of
trains. T2 was 1 watt into a vertical omni located due east of T1 and
across the river. Both were blocked from the start by Mt Jurupa.

T2, the
vertical one, could not be heard as the start as I started it about a
half hour early and was concerned that someone would skip the start. No
one did. At 7:30 T1 came on and all got a good bearing to Mt. Baldy.
Most seemed to go up to the 210 FWY (the northern boundry), then east
and say they didn't get any indication of south until they were well
past the 15 FWY.
