Hider: Mike K6SNE
It was a
night of one disaster after another for the hider. Kicked out of
two locations, dead transmitters, and terrorism crazy harbor police officers.
The hidden transmitter finally ended up at the Long Beach Harbor Pilots
Station, on Pier F, Long Beach Harbor. The main T was about 2 watts
feeding a 2m Log Periodic antenna, Vertizontally polarized. There
was a tiny micro t hidden under a traffic cone about 30 yards away from
the main T that all hunters were required to sniff. Signal propagation
was strange to say the least. Without intending to do so I managed
a Mt. Baldy Bounce with the start point directly in the beam path.
The start point, however, was in a shadow area behind the Brea hills and
no one could see any direct signal from the harbor. I was pleased
with the result to say the least.
