Jippy's Story of The
May 31st. FFA Hunt
For those following the plight of the 4Runner. On Friday the A/C quit.
I took it into the garage that had overhauled it a couple years ago and they found it
had a leak. They also said it used type 15 Freon which is no longer available anywhere
and that I had to convert it to 134. They couldn't convert it on Friday afternoon, so
I went on the hunt in 95 degree weather without it. I'm too old and too fat for this.
Since I left the windows open most of the time, the inside of the 4Runner is now 1/2
inch thick in dust from the dirt roads and I will have to do a major vacuum.
I got there around 8AM and had breakfast. I was joined at 9:15 by Deryl. Good eggs
(Toms #1 on Allesandro about a mile east of 215) Left about 9:35 and hid 6 transmitters
(I thought I hid 7 but found one on the car seat when I was picking up the transmitters
that evening. Little devils are getting hard to find even before you hide them. Got them
all somewhere by 11:30 and started hunting. I found 4 of Dave's, and one of Don's. Never
heard Deryl's. Drove from 91/10, well north of the 60, to Reche, over Reche and south to
below lake Mathews to the 15 and back north. Never heard Deryl's.
All of mine were close to each other and once in the area you should have heard them all.
They were all on Thomas Bros map 716 (Riverside/San Bernardino)
