Story
1st I just want to say WOW, Great Hunt!
All of you did a fantastic job for your 1st All Day hide.
Ok, now that I am done blowing Smoke. He-he
When I first heard the T it was 310 degrees but then it changed. The signal was in
the noise for a while and finally I could hear it again at 320 degrees. So I did
the fatal mistake and disregarded my 1st bearing… (Bad thing) So, I had early
Sunday morning plans with the family so I needed to make this hunt go by a little
quicker (another bad thing). I headed up Crenshaw to the 405 and off I go headed
for Frazer Park. Stopped at the normal place on the way up the 405 on Mulholland
Dr, had a good signal and a close bearing to Pinos. Back on the road convinced it
was around there someplace… ha-ha NOT! Stopped on the 5 on a high spot looking
North East checking the direction to make sure it was not being fooled.
Saw Don & Steve pulling up on my 6 so I waved and left. I never saw another hunter
again until I found 3 T’s 5 hours later. Well to make this part short… I drove
through MT Frazier, MT Able witch by the way I was convinced at one point they were
there until I found the locked gate at the bottom. Good thing or I would have gone
up there. Also passed MT Pinos. Into the Valley and the signal was pointing slightly
to the right of the 166 so off I went. I passed the 33 with the signal still up the
166 and a little to the right. Well, All of a sudden 20 miles up the 166 and the
signal turned Left and pointed to Bald MT.. Holy CRUD NO! Sure enough, I blew it!
So after sulking and kicking my self I had no choice but to go up to the 101.
Heard the signal 20 miles up the 101 and pointed to Bald Mtn. Ok convinced of this,
so that was my plan. Wrong again! Good thing that Figueroa Mtn was the same direction.
Up Figueroa Mtn I go.
I found a line of News vans and many poparatzi’s lined up on
both sides of the road for about 300 feet and I had no idea why they were trying to
stop me and shining lights in my truck and flash bulbs in my eyes, I thought one guy
was going to jump on my hood. I had no idea what this was all about. I found out
later it was the entrance to Neverland Ranch.
Well, up I went and found SNE’s T right off, then two others. Now very dark and Very
windy someone said it was cold. (could have fooled me) I just walked around in my T shirt.
Well, I was coaxed into the main T and found 3 more.
I needed to leave for home so I could get up at 6am, so I went to dinner with David and
Melanie then left for home. 9:30 pm I think.
