Jippy's story for the All night
BlueMoon T-Hunt

Got a 300 degree bearing at the start. Went down the hill on Hawthorne and based upon the last couple times I headed northwest, the 405 and 101 were very slow with stop/go to the airport and over the hill and the narrow lanes of the valley on the 101 are totally uncivilized. So up route 1 I went. What a nice pleasant drive with many things I hadn't seen in ten-15 years and a lot of new things. Malibu to Mugu to Oxnard to Santa Barbara. Nice drive with NO signal before Pt Mugu. Up the coast past SB as the signal clearly said don't go over San Marcos Pass.

Whoa, the signal went north (it had been holding steady at 300 degrees since the start) and even a little east as I went by El Capitan. It changed bearing so fast that it can't be on Broadcast peak but must be nearer. Spent two hours messing around the area, looking for a way into the foothills, with no success. Went up Refugio Canyon, but it was posted as road closed in 7 miles and the junction with the road to Broadcast peak was 7 ½ miles.

Here was my mistake. I was hungry and Buellton was only 20 miles away with Pea Soup. I love Anderson's Peas soup and this biased my decision. Food won out and I went to Andersons with plans to come up to broadcast peak from the Solvang side. (after I ate soup). I found two transmitters, both talking Ts on the way to soup. Up the Hill and found my third T. Met several hunters coming down and up there. Spent a lot of time trying to hear more transmitter, but failed. Due to many loose lips I surmised that the Refugio road was indeed open and was paved all the way to the transmitter on Broadcast peak. I also gleamed that there was a transmitter hidden on that road.

I heard another transmitter very weak at 285 from BC peak and decided to go back down the way I came up and to pick off the transmitter on Refugio road on my way home. I never heard the weak transmitter again once away from the ridge. I went down the dirt road and drove around to Refugio road and found my 4th transmitter and went home.

Great soup, good weather, nice roads, .great hunt.
