Well
after reading Jippy's best laid plans, I'm really
glad he wasn't able to do 80% of his plan! We had
enough problems finding the ones that where actually
on! Jippy, you must get rid of that Delorme GPS
unit, it doesn't show half of the back roads that
are on the Garmin GPS. However, I must say the
Garmin sometimes shows roads that are not
actually there. A good example is the road that went
in back of T6 or north from that location. It showed
on my GPS as a paved road! As it was it's only a
hiking trail that is actually closed! So much for
the map inaccuracies, When we thought we heard and
found all of the transmitters we got to the
highest place where we could see 360 degrees, and
didn't hear or detect any we hadn't found yet, I
guess T1,2,3,4 was thought of as the T4,3,2,1 one.
Both would of been in nearly the same direction from
our high spot. As it was T 11, 12, 13, 14, 15,
16 all had different bearings as we hunted for
them! In fact as we went towards the end of Alden
Rd. we had bearings of T11 & T12 separated by
more than 45 degrees even though we were less than
1/4 mile from it's location! On a different thought,
we got a chance to meet one of the Rawson Ranch
caretakers. We had gone up one of the long
dead end roads that came off of Rawson Rd. She came
up in a red jeep as we got to a
closed gate. She asked the usual questions and
we must of replied correctly because she let us go,
and didn't even take out the shotgun / rifle / six
shooter she must of had in her Jeep! Overall a fun
and a bit frustrating hunt, and I wish we could of
detected T 1,2,3,4, and found it. Thanks, Jippy and
Glen for the hide, I only wish you could of found
some other way of deciding a winner!
