All Night Transmitter Hunt

Hider: Paul WB6HPW and Peter
Where: Unknown. No one found it so will be used again on All Night Hunt.

History
  • Main transmitter came on a little late due to “technical difficulties”.
  • Signal was weaker than originally anticipated due to “technical difficulties”
  • Hunters complained, so hider said “head towards Redlands”
  • N6MI reported a weak signal in Moreno Valley
  • Hider heard a weak signal in *****, direction was nowhere near the accurate one.
  • Strong signals reported in Palm Springs / SR 74 area
  • “Very strange” signals reported in the Santa Rosa Peak area
  • N6AIN called it quits around 5 pm
  • As of current time, reports N6MI at “Scissors Crossing,” about 10 miles east of Julian and WA6RJN heading north on SR 74, approaching Palm Desert.

To the best of our knowledge, no one found any of the transmitters.  (We still haven’t picked them up due to other commitments Saturday evening and today). If that is the case we presume that we will hide again the next time the All Night T-hunt slot comes up in the rotation which, according to our calculations, is 5 months from now (no hunt in June due to Field Day, right?) on 27 July.

We’ll use a similar (not same) spot, but we’ll hide (an)other transmitter(s) in an “easier” location(s) so there will be a definite winner even if the “difficult" transmitters are not found again. We propose a special rule for this one hunt, that one must find one or more of the “difficult” transmitters in order to win, unless nobody finds them.
