The transmitter was running one half watt into a 4 element beam on the top of my Jeep Cherokee. We were hidden in the back of an industrial complex in Rancho Cucamonga. It was located near the intersection of Archibald and 7th street. The beam was pointed at the mountains above Upland, with the side of the beam toward the start point. The first two teams to arrive, N6AIN/N6EKS & WB6ADC/N6UZS, came in from the south side of the complex on paved roads all the way. The last two teams to arrive, K6RDF/Leigh & KK6ME/KD6LOR, managed to get on a dirt road north of the complex and walked to the back parking lot where my Jeep was parked. The KK6ME/KD6LOR team had managed to rack up almost 100 miles circling the hidden "T" on the surrounding freeway system. (G.P.S. miles to the hidden "T", 29 miles). Mike K6SNE managed to blow a fuse (in his equipment) and was unable to continue hunting. Too bad Mike, you could drive right up to the hidden "T". No need to even get out of the truck. I want to thank all that came out on the hunt. The official results are published below.
